Fear of Hezbollah Retaliation Haunts Israel
Manar.

23/03/2008 The assassination of Hezbollah's top military commander in Damascus last month by Israel is still casting as shadow of fear within the Israeli community, particularly within political and military ranks. Monday marks the 40th day of mourning for martyr Imad Moghniyeh (Hajj Radwan) and the southern suburb of Beirut is set to witness a rally to commemorate the martyr. Lebanese daily Assafir said Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah may speak at the rally. In occupied Palestine, on the other hand, the Israeli army has beefed up its presence on the northern border and diverted units from training facilities and other operations.

In conjunction with the high level of security, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has decided to dramatically increase its level of security surrounding Israeli embassies, consulates and other offices worldwide. Defense officials announced over the weekend that Israel would begin outfitting its civil airliners with a defense system designed to thwart missile attacks. The officials said the system fired flares that distracted an incoming missile's heat-seeking mechanism. It will be installed first on planes flying to destinations considered dangerous, especially those in Africa and parts of Asia.

Israel is anticipating retaliation by Hezbollah.
The party's Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah has vowed Moghniyeh's blood shall be avenged, however he did not specify when and how.

Israel has denied involvement in Hajj Radwan's assassination; however the conduct of Israeli officials in the aftermath of the murder proved quite the opposite.

Hezbollah's number two, Sheikh Naim Kassem stressed Saturday that the party had 100% solid proof that Israel killed Moghniyeh.

Kassem said there is no basis for the claim that others were behind the assassination. "Know that Israel is responsible and it must bear the whole responsibility," his eminence said.
